When Maryam Nawaz Sharif, vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, appeared for a court hearing today in Islamabad, she had a special message emblazoned on her clothes.
The daughter of a three-time prime minister donned a black tunic with pants, which carried the image of her incarcerated father and the message, “Free Nawaz Sharif”.
The sartorial choice of Maryam Nawaz took the internet by storm. Some agreed with the strong message imprinted her on her shirt, while others rallied against it.
The ensemble has been designed by another PML-N leader, Hina Butt, who herself has been seen in the past supporting outfits with images of the party’s top leadership.
Sharif appeared on Friday, with a large group of PML-N supporters, in front of an accountability court in Islamabad over the use of a fake trust deed. Her father was jailed last year in a corruption probe.
