There was no shortage of fuel supply, the government's Pakistan State Oil (PSO) said late Wednesday, amid reports that petrol pumps were shutting down as they were running out of stock.
Speaking to Dawn.com, PSO spokesperson Imran Rana said there was "sufficient stocks available" and that there was "no issue of fuel supply".
"We will not let Karachi dry. Every consumer will get the fuel," Rana added.
Earlier, it was reported that petrol pumps in various areas of the metropolis had started to shut down over reasons that were unclear. Stations in Saddar and on Shahrah-e-Faisal and Karsaz had already closed down while throngs of cars rushed to join queues outside those that were still open.
On the other hand, petrol pumps serving customers as of reporting time had hiked up gasoline prices, leading to complaints from distressed consumers.
