Sindh Gov Announces Online Classes For Public Schools

Sindh Education & Literacy Department (SELD) has announced online classes for students of public schools. According to the details, an issued notification in this regard stated that The department in a tripartite collaboration with UNICEF and Microsoft has established an online digital classroom platform for 6 to 12 graders. The online classes will be launched with the help of The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Microsoft, with 75 masters trainers to train teachers regarding on holding online classes. IT experts have been hired to conduct the online classes, the notification read. The secretary education issued directives for all district directors to provide data of teachers and students by June 17. However, private educational institutions were permitted to start online education. All of these schools must fully comply with coronavirus SOPs, Sindh Education Minister Ghani had added. The education minister Saeed Ghani said earlier that there is no final decision taken yet on the reopening of schools in the province as COVID-19 cases continued to rise all over Pakistan. Ghani said “Once we have taken a look at the situation at hand, we will decide about reopening schools,” On the other hand, The Private Schools Action Committee has announced that the school will reopen in three phases from June 15, 2020. Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club, Pervez Haroon, Chairman Private Schools Action Committee, said that the committee rejects the government’s decision to keep schools closed till September. They are deprived of going to school and this decision of the government has deprived 50 million more children of education.
