Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif will not use his powers as Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman to issue his own production order, sources said on Monday.
Shehbaz will not issue his own production order as he is a suspect, sources said. “The NA speaker will issue Shehbaz’s production order to attend the PAC meeting on January 31,” sources added.
“PAC Secretariat has sent a request to the NA speaker to issue Shehbaz’s production order after the PML-N leader decided that he will not use his authority of issuing production orders for himself,” the sources said.
A source in the PAC Secretariat said that the meeting will take place even if the NA speaker does not issue Shehbaz’s production order. “Any member can be appointed acting chairman for the meeting,” the source said.
Last week, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Naeemul Haq had warned that Shehbaz’s production orders will be revoked as he had been targeting Prime Minister Imran Khan with 'personal' attacks. Following Haque’s tweet, PML-N had said that if the leader of the opposition is not allowed to come to the National Assembly, neither will the leader of the House.
